Kick back and cut loose at Logan's Roadhouse

"Kick back and cut loose" is the feeling you get when entering Logan's Roadhouse. With their headquarters in Nashville Tennessee, you definitely experience that country vibe in this classic roadhouse atmosphere.

The waiting area provides a huge container of peanuts and customers are encouraged to toss the shells on the floor. A little bucket of peanuts is also offered on each table in the restaurant....to read more

A Recession Boost

With times being as hard as they are, everyone can use a little help. Who wouldn't be happy to receive an invitation to a free meal? I was thrilled when an email popped in my box. To read more...

Sweet 16

Ah sixteen. What a sweet age to be. First car, first boyfriend and a little bit more independence. To celebrate such a great event one needs a special cake.
Here is my version of a sweet sixteen party cake. Hot pink and black were the requested colors. Yes, requested. This was my first made to order cake! Hooray!
After two days of baking, fondant making and lots of decorating - this great cake was presented. The recipient was thrilled and I was very happy. Life is great.

Flower Girl

Finally. We are on our way to the beach. I can't wait to see the ocean. To get in the spirit of things, I made some tropical hair accessories. You can call me "Flower Girl" this weekend. Aaaaaaah. Life is great.

Jewels

Here are a few pieces I made while I lived in Germany. The goldfish necklace was sold to a lady in Berlin. I have started making jewelry again for myself. Maybe I'll try selling a few pieces in the future. It's wonderful being creative. Life is great.

Tortellini Soup

I found some whole wheat tortellini at the supermarket today and decided to make a nice pot of soup. To start I sauteed onions with chopped up sausage (the brats we made Monday) and then added some organic veggies and chicken broth. Finally I put in the tortellini and presto another tasty and healthy meal. Life is great.

Brötchen

Yesterday, I made some German rolls also known as "Brötchen" to accompany the brats we made the day before. I took a whole wheat bread recipe, let the bread machine knead the dough and then made regular and mini rolls which were then half-baked before freezing. This morning we had some for breakfast and they were delicious. I can't wait to try them with a bratwurst and some Dijon mustard. Yummmmmmm. Life is great!

The "E" in Twilight

E is for Edward. Edward Cullen that is. Our favorite vampire. And when I say our, I mean the great group of people I share a common fascination with - Twilight! If you have not heard of this book series or the movie, then now is the time to get caught up. Caught up in a great story of love, romance and plenty of adventure. One of the great people in our fan base had a birthday recently and I thought she would enjoy a little bit of Twilight trivia with her morning coffee. So, I took some of the favorite quotes from the books and movie and put them on a white mug. I added a bit of red to give it that bloody vampire feeling, and there we have it - the Twilight cup. Life is great! And very long if you are Edward.

Original German Brats

So yesterday my husband and I finally got together to make some real German bratwurst. What makes them authentic, is the fact that my husband is from Germany and is a trained butcher. He has been so excited to finally use his craft again. We had ordered a new food processing machine and the accessories for sausage making a few weeks ago. This weekend we ordered pork butt and fat. Yesterday we got all the spices and picked up the meat. It was a very tedious and slow process, but after about 4 hours we had our first batch of German bratwurst. We let them sit in the fridge over night and today we fried one to test. Tasty. Very tasty. I am so proud of my mate. Life is great!

Aaaaah. Fridays. Best day of the week. Right after Saturday and Sunday, of course. And what a better way to spend the end of the day then with a "Sexy Aligator" and some great live music at "The Mellow Mushroom" watching the sun go down on a very pleasant Georgia day. To read more...

New Out of Old

Here is my cute little girl "Coffee". She is wearing the new collar I made for her yesterday. I had saved her puppy collar which had gotten to small for her. Using leftover t-shirt material, I braided three strips into this great design. It is very comfortable and light-weight. Isn't she so cute!

Earth Day Tribute

In honor of Earth Day, I thought I would add a unique craft I came up with a few months ago. I was getting rid of some old shirts that I hadn't worn for quite some time, when I came up with a way to reuse them.
I made reusable grocery bags out of them. The material out of which the shirts were made is a heavy cotton. This makes the bags very durable for carrying heavy groceries. And I added the bow as a cuteness factor. I had this shirt in 3 different colors - light blue, yellow and pink. So now I have 3 beautifully economic bags! Life is great!

Sunny Day

What a beautiful day at the Epcot Garden Show in Orlando. The park was filled with all the colors of the rainbow - and then some. Nature at it's best. To top it off, I got to spend some great moments with family and friends. Life is great!

Cake # 2

So after a good run with my first cake, I decided to give it another try two weeks later. I wanted to do a gift decorated with tropical flowers. There was no plan on what type of floral design would be used - I just made it up as I went along.
Covering the cake was a bit difficult. Actually, it was the corners that were hard to get right. I will have to do some more research before attempting corners again.
The cake itself was tasty. I used an orange flavored cake and added chocolate between the four layers.

St. Paddy's Day Cake - Cake # 1

A few weeks ago, I decided to try my hand at cake decorating with fondant. I was never an avid baker, but have always considered myself pretty crafty and will try anything once. After some googling and u-tubing, I thought I was ready to give it a whirl.
I started 2 days before, baking the cake and making the marshmallow fondant - an online recipe. Don't ya just love the net! Now I was ready to create. I had a design in my head that I hoped would be doable. And VOILA, after about 5 hrs of fun I had my first masterpiece.
WOW, I did it and it came out even
better then I had hoped for. And I had the perfect venue to present it at - our annual St. Paddy's day party. Honoring not one, but two Birthday Boys. It looked good AND was tasty. Life is great!

Spring Has Sprung

It is finally here. The blooming season. This is a shot of my first blooms this year. Such a beautiful color. Life is great.
